Belgian beers (from Belgium) can be some of the best beers in the world.
Personally, however, I'm more into the PNW or NorCal IPAs. Pliny, Walking Man, Blue Dot, Blind Pig, La Conner... stuff like that.
Don't know - maybe haven't developed the palate for the Belgians.
In general don't like many of the "Belgian style" beers out there.

A taste issue.
Stouts are simple and easy. Gateway beers. You progress from them to things like Imperial Stouts. Eventually you drink IPAs and double IPAs. You get to Imperial IPAs and things like that and from their either go to "extreme" beers (meaning you have damaged taste buds) or to things like Belgian beers.
It's a natural progression and you should not feel bad about the beers you like no matter where you are on the journey.
Pussy.
