Flag

We're getting hella inches of snow right now. I'm guessing by Sunday the melt will be back on, as our storms don't really settle in. You can either rent snowshoes from the Kickstand Cafe or head down to the Anvils in Sedona for some sandstone sickness.

It's an inopportune time, but Flag is fun regardless. And under the roofs is generally always dry if you can get there.

Trying to plan a weekend trip and just found out it was Rock Rodeo weekend. Am dying to go to Hueco, but don't want to fight the circus - so the Anvils are prime right now?

the anvils are a great little winter diversion if you live in flagstaff, but they're hardly a destination area.

the skiing is pretty good these days though. are you visiting someone or did you just get a bad luck of the draw weather-wise on planning a random weekend trip out here?

I'm in Tucson, not far. Just rarely venture out of town, and need to sample some new rock.

Next weekend? Anvils should be prime but the creek crossing will be cold as fuck. There's enough to keep you entertained for a weekend or until you decide getting drunk would be more fun.

You might also want to check out the Ansel Adams exhibit at the Phoenix Art Museum. Running till June 6th for any other folks interested.

I'm visiting my little bro in Phoenix for his Spring break and wanted to make use of my Hueco skin. Will prolly hike and climb in snow regardless cuz I am motivated. Retarded yet motivated.

Hope your hueco skin includes callouses on the sides of your fingers; those pockets rubbed me in new and exciting places.

Loxs pockets did that to you?

An epic creek crossing sounds fun. Not sure if I should hit the Anvils or bust out to Jtree for the Stonemaaster highball circuit....

This was on the agenda. Along with White Rasta, Stem Gem, Slashface, SNL, what else is a must do?

So seriously, is Flag a waste of time this weekend? I can drive from Phoenix to JTree, Red Rocks or Hueco or some little spot like Box Canyon and prolly get better climbing in. What do you guys think?

Jtree - 4 hrs
Red Rocks - 5 hrs
Hueco - 7 hrs
Box - 8+ hrs and the crew will be in ELP for the Cock Rodeo plus probable rain on Sunday

Oak flat? 40 minutes. Some fun choss... a huckleberry would help maximize fun there
