Open Avenue for Abuse - Hueco 2/3-2/8

Postby leaverbiner » Thu Jan 07, 2010 2:59 pm

I am clearly setting myself of for a shit-ton of abuse, but here goes:

I am going to be in El Paso starting Wed. night, February 3rd though Monday Morning Febraury 8th.

I planning on crashing with Rockpharmer and his band of idiots Fri. Sat and Sunday.

I have a reservation for North on Thursday. I am going to keep trying for reservatiosn for Fri. Sat and Sun. to have flexibility on where to climb.

Who is going to be around and where are you climbing? Anyone want to subject themselves to allowing me to tag along?

I'm a think I'll rent a car at the airport, but don't have the ability to bring a tent or sleeping gear so I guess I'll hotel it?

Any suggestions on the crash pad situation - I can't bring mine with. I thoguht about shipping it, but don't know if I can/should just rent one or if someone might have an extra I can borrow for a few days.

Any info. would be helpful . . . replies, PM's or e-mail leaverbiner@hotmail.com

southwest lets me fly with my pad, i just stuff my chalk, shoes, tent poles and sleeping pad in the crashpad. then rest of your tent stuff can be folded and yeah...it works.

if youre gonna rent a car, sleep in that, upgrade to the SUV or van...done.

I have had success flying with my pad as well, but this stop in El Paso is on my way home from a vacation in Mexico. Even if it woudl be allowed byt he airline, I am not paying a bag fee to take it to Mexico, a bag fee to take it from Mex to El Paso and then a bag fee to take it home. I'd be better off buying a new pad and donating to someone when I leave.

This additional travel is also why lugging sleeping gear is impractical.

I don't really mind spending the $$ for a hotel - I am sure as fuck too old and decrepit to be sleeping in a car/SUV - but I am afraid if I have a hotel room all to myself I may never get the strippers out in time to be at the gate when the park opens. 1 rule about travel - never leave strippers unattended in your hotel room.

stay in the house at the ranch. way closer, and should be cheaper than any hotel your pansy lawyer ass would land itself in. as for crash pads, you could ship one to hueco and then fly home with it, rent one from the ranch (I think they do this), or just mooch off any and all b.comers and other random strangers you encounter.

But that would mean I would actually have to talk to someone . . . fuck that. So much better sitting anonymously behind a monitor.
