it's coconino sandstone, very controversial..

creationists bend over backwards trying to prove the 300 foot layer was deposited underwater, in a single day during the biblical flood.

geologists say it's 260 million years old, and comes from wind blown sand.. but what do they know

All I know is that when that choss erodes away from under teh limestone layer, it creates roofs.

This is the only way I can support Porch's ridiculous notion that sandstone is "godstone." Sandstone, and it's inherent weakness and chossiness, through erosion is the creator of the roofs that define the greatest stone to climb.

Porch lives in Georgia, so his life is punishment enough.. let him have his eastern godstone delusions while we live the limestone/sandstone/granite/quartzite/dacite/diorite/syenite dream out west

interesting. it's the same concept here only the limestone was the choss that eroded away to create my godstone.

I thought it was magma melting through the limestone and the other choss eroding away, which is why the surrounding hills/mts are exposed limestone.

Ah. I sometimes have similar reaction whenever I see bare boobs: I'll scream "boobies" and make sucking noises.

It can be a dealbreaker.
