South Africa, 2010

Postby dm » Wed Nov 18, 2009 9:59 pm

Nothing to do with Rocklands, I'm talking soccer.

Given that USA and Aus are likely to be in the same pot, best and worse case scenarios are the same:

Best: South Africa, Slovenia and Algeria
Worst: Brazil/Spain, Nehterlands, Cote d'Ivoire

I am also pretty stoked that NZ are going to be there. Boo to Russia getting knocked out.

I haven't really been keeping up... yet. That's prolly gonna change. I wanted to go there and see it, but that's unrealistic at this point, considering. lulz.

Niceporch, don't be bitchmade. Just don't click on all the threads that are too masculine for you.

with any luck France will be knocked out in first round and score no goals.
cold comfort to the players from Ireland, but the least we can hope for.

Haven't seen the game yet but the france/ireland game seems like a load of crap from the highlights. I'd like to see the Netherlands take it at this point. Their style really bridges the gaps the US/UK squads haven't been able to manage on the international level and still makes for exciting watching. Similar to the league/union distinction.

Hand of Gaul, heh

As is clearly mentioned in the Laws of the Game, during matches, decisions are taken by the referee and these decisions are final.

hard line, but this is what i've always liked about football. the game is decided on the pitch. for better or for worse. just hope the ref gets sacked.

And those who are responsible for sacking those who are to be sacked are also they themselves sacked.

happy with the US draw, although there's no real "group of death" this time around to really keep the first round interesting IMO. it'll be 8 groups vying for the 2nd place finish.

No group of death? Brazil, Ivory Coast and Portugal is pretty damn death-like.

Um, yeah. The Ivory Coast have Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Kolo and Yaya Toure, Emannuel Eboue - among others.

Read that. Get a clue.

England - USA should prove to be an unbearably slow and uneventful match.

Ivory Coast's goaltending is a legit concern.
Otherwise they are a contender for sure.
