Underground is pretty OK. Me and Middendorf and Bill Pilling and John Wason and and bunch or rotating hangers-on walked right past the edge of it every year starting in the late 80's, on our annual Thanksgiving day trek across Queen Mountain, from the trailhead for the old mine on the south side of the range, due north over the mountain, then dropping down a granite gorge and winding up at 29 Plams Oasis. Always an epic. Eight hours if you're really moving.

If you're ready to commit to a 3 hour approach and get way back in there on the northeast side of the summit of queen mountain, there's a bunch more underground-type areas up there, plus more petrogylphs and bighorn sheep skulls than you can shake a stick at! It's another world up there. Totally different rock, totally different ecosystem than the rest of Josh. Way wetter; adiabatic precipitation makes the place fucking lush. Crazy gullys, huge trees, big open sand flats, and rock with desert varnish like nowhere else in the monument. Oh HELL YEAH!

I know you consider me worthy. I am honored. When I get out to J-Tree this Spring I'm going to make the 3 mile hike. With my 1 yr old on my back and a big pad. Fuck bitches. Get money.
