Bolder, CO

Damn. It fucking snowed like crazy yesterday! I stopped in Grand Junction and swapped my summers out for Bridgestone Blizzak ws70's and blasted over the pass like cake. There were 5 accidents and one uphill section of glare ice that subies and 4x4's were spinning and sliding backward. Bimmer killed it..

Anyway, if anyone in the front range wants to hang at some point, feel free to shoot me a pm.

Peace.

true story- sitting in denver after a sonic youth concert (which was understandably awesome), we decided that it always rains in colorado, and that we should head to the desert and ride our bicycles there instead. heading up over the mountains, the rain turns to snow, then more snow. the buddy's taurus slows through the accumulating snow, as cars pull to the side and bow to the gathering storm. our momentum stalls, and we collectively consider a night in the car with 4 men and their bikes. this being not the preferred option, our strength kicks in and carlo, ace and i jump from the moving vehicle. as it slows we lean against the open car doors and push our rig up the mountain, tires spinning. we're strong, so we make progress. the driver gets it together and the vehicle regains traction and speeds up. carlo and i see what's up and jump back in. ace is wearing loafers, falters, and drops back, with his door swinging shut without him. we sit quietly all together and continue up the hill. being raised by wolves, we assume ace will be alright. these are the stories we tell to ourselves in those situations where there is no right thing to do. as we silently lament our lost friend, the door opens from the storm and the man jumps back in, snow covered and read for the desert, now a certainty waiting on the other side of the mountains. and the epic continued to unfold.

funny, same thing happened to me on the way back from Idaho.

my old supra slayed it, passing semis in the left, un-plowed, lane and spun out pick-ups on the right. Pirelli's. Damn, i miss that rig. i miss Ace, too. even though i never knew him.

no need to miss ace- the guy is still alive. happy that he made it through that night.

adventure on the way back over the mountain also-ended up making the trip on the back of a tow truck - one sweet moment there, drinking our last beers heading downhill while our chauffeur towed our way into golden. met arto at the airport and hunkered down for a few more weeks while the car got fixed.

ace was a lucky name. we were actually considering somewhere along the way there to nickname him eino, but he preemptively chose ace instead. wise move.
