Anything else is a waste of money. And if you are counting on your car to get you laid, consider yourself a lost cause.

and besides, with a wagon or truck, it's much easier to get laid in your car.

I'm buying one of 2 cars today, given they're still available

'96 328i

or..

'92 525i

Great prices and easy to fix on your own with a bentley service manual and a small tool-kit.

Lux or pep... hmm.

Bought the 328is coupe for $3000. Great car.. so solid. E36 engine in immaculate condition driven by single owner retired guy. I need to show this car what's up.

Totally smoked a punk in a whited out mitsubishi eclipse with rims and obnoxious fart cannon exhaust on the way home tonight. In a station wagon. Love being a practical adult.

It's gonna be my summer car. I'll sell it and get a scooby come late fall (or not sell it probably). It was such a good value, I don't mind keeping $300/mo in the bank for the upkeep . I also want to learn about these cars, so I'm super excited about working on it. The M is great and all, but I feel like it's wasted power unless you want 2 tickets a day. I'm sure I'll get one with the 328 just after driving it. It redlined at 65mph in 2nd.. and without dropping the clutch got to 60 in around 7-8 sec. It's gonna be fun... just needs fresh front tires and a stereo. It feels like doing a one-arm on a sandstone sloper when it's 45deg out. I don't care if I do or don't attract women to it. It has a reassuring personality to it that makes me feel good. Yes, it's a toy.. but it's MY toy!

Hey, now I can go climbing, see friends i can't by bike.. run errands and enjoy the ride as well. Word.

Long story ... I was 17 and needed a car. My mum said she would give me 500 toward a car. (single mom) I passed this house with a minty 2002 in the back of the house for months and never saw a for sale sign. So one day I knock on the guys door and ask about his bmw and if he wants to sell it .. he says "well .. i never thought about selling it .. you like it that much? I'll sell it to you for 500$". I almost shit myself, thank him profusely .. run home and tell mom all worked up. She flat out refuses. Tells me the parts to fix it would be too expensive and that she has found me a more practical car. Subaru wagon. It's a rust bucket. It lasted about 4 months. I will bet money that BMW 2002 is still on the road. There are some things you can never forgive your parents for.

of course everybody knows i had a silver 1976 bmw 2002, and although it was a fun and simple car, and it lived a long life - it costed me an arm and a leg to keep it alive and it was a pain in the ass.

I jumped a 2002 further than I have jumped any vehicle and I think my cousin still doesn't trust me for it.

Some fools on these internets are saying Subarus rust more than other vehicles. I can't recall seeing a rusty subaru in all my days. But is there any truth to this? Chicago, winter, salt. Death to metal.

That is a well crafted response. You should be commended for your ability to incorporate cars, anal, and carboard dog's mom into a single post.

Subarus do rust quite easily, though no more so than a Honda or other piece of shit. They use crappy paint on their cars, and when the paint chips to metal rust sets in, and if not taken care of can rot out panels... I wouldn't not buy one because of this though... Any car left out in the weather in Chicago and exposed to road salt will become a piece of shit. More reason to buy a beater with 100k miles and drive the wheels off it.
