Pay like 10x your airfare so TSA doesn't know you're flying with a bike? That thing better be a folder.

Hey, anyone ride folding bikes? I used to have a Dahon, but now looking at either Bike Friday's Tikit, or the Brompton. The Tikit has a more rigid ride (for a folder) but is clumsy when folded, and falls over. The Brompton ride is flexy, but folds into a neat and small package.

Tikit:

Brompton:

The Tikit has fewer proprietary parts by far, but the Brompton is like the original Mini-Cooper of British bicycles. They both run about $1500.

Any suggestions for a decent hybrid for around $350? I found a Giant Escape, a GT Zum, and a Schwinn Tourist in this price range but I can't find much online as far as reviews.
