if the glass is all at 2.8, and it works on a digital camera you've got something.

if not you'll need to have the old school skills to pay the bills.........which hardly anybody does anymore.

i used to be able to do that stuff - but to be competitive - you kinda have to be able to see what you've just shot and then immediately try to improve on it.

sold all my old film shit and bought a guitar.

Thats actually why I bought everything. As far as I know old school SLR lenses are still compatable with the new Canon digitals sooo .. I was psyched immediately. After I bought it and found the EOS 630 body I was even more psyched.

I hope the guitar was worth it. I may be frugal in many areas of my life but i probably have about 9 or 10 grand invested in my instruments including 2 Martins and 2 American Fenders .. Strat and a Tele.

SLR Film cameras are to 2010 what typewriters were to 1992. Found cheaply at garage sales everywhere. You could buy gorgeous Ollivetti's n shit for $10.

I bought it for the lenses not for the camara but yeah .. I love garage sales. My mother used to work for Olivetti.

I bought a 71' or 72' Ampeg VT 22 at a yard sale. It was like the first year they made the VT's and it could shake the goddamned windows at half volume. Only A tube amp has that kind of raw power. Unfortunately my amp tech's helper left the speaker unplugged when he turned the amp on and ran a signal through it blowing the amp. The next amp i bought was a Sundown, an old boutique line from the 80's, and when the guy who sold it too me heard of my VT troubles, gave me a card that said Dennis Kager on it .. he's an Amp tech. And he designed, built, and owned the Sundown amp co. Ironically he also designed and Built Ampegs V series amps in the 60's and 70's. Turns out he's a really nice dude and has alot of wicked old tube amps.

True story.

he likes old tube amps. i find it hard to pay attention to his rambling about them, or basically anything except the drugs and alcohol he "had" to give up.

not friendly to me.

i reached out to the guy, told him i was a fan of his work, and he gave me the cold shoulder.

i guess all of us photo freaks are in competition with one another on some level.

or maybe it's the way i go about being a fan....

if i take your work seriously, and if you were to show me something that i thought didn't live up to your standard - i'm not going to tell you "oh, that looks great." i'll tell you what i honestly think because bullshitting you would be doing you a disservice as an artist.

when you're good - the last thing you need is fluffing.

constructive criticism - in those cases - is the greatest sign of respect.
