Mustard. The POLL.

Postby slim » Thu Jul 08, 2010 12:55 pm

Look in your fridge and pantry right now. How many mustards do you own?

I count 13.

A tribute to one of the most versatile condiments on the planet:

I used to be a 12-14 mustard guy... nowadays I'm more like a 3 or 4. I found I was wasting lots of expensive mustards throwing away 1/2 full containers.

Mustard is the food of the god.

I inherited much of lox's mustard legacy. I'll have to count when I get home but I'm guessing more than 15.

I use dijon in salad dressings, but not much otherwise; normal yellow goes into the "traditional" version of the family barbecue sauce. Coarse ground for everything else.

try a coarse pommery in dressings.

i have yellow for your typical white bread ham n cheese merican sammich. or maybe a ballpark dog if thats the mood Im in.

deli mustard for 90 percent of sammiches and the kraut dog (or brat)

take a lamb rack, coat in a mixture of mustards (featuring whole grain hopefully). marinade for a few hours. grill. win.

I hate the airy texture. Turns to slime when you add some moisture to it. Could be he's talking about good white bread, but I'm assuming slim eats wonderbread.

Cheap yellow mustard for me. But the wife has some variety, like the Lusty Monk's "Burn in Hell"

Toasted Wonderbread + mayo + fresh tomato=WIN.

If you add bacon and avocado, I prefer a heartier variety, but the basic Southern sammich requires the bread that "builds strong bodies 12 ways."

I gotta admit that sometimes I grab the Orowheat Country Buttermilk.

Like when the Boar's Head has smoked ham on sale.

Horseradish mustard on that shit ftw. Or Jack Daniels. I love me some Jacky D's mustard.
