i don;t think we;re going to eat it. i looked at it hungrily, then talked to some people, and they convinced me not to eat it.

yup- it was on kimmiwan lake, it had rained most of the day, and paddling through the weeds the canoe came up against a sucker pushing towards shore. i tilted and grabbed the fish- now what to do? it was boiled, and eaten off the bone. it was not a tasty fish, but there are times when you have to eat what you've caught, just because it was caught. there is an initiative in being caught, like the freedom of a gift.

Reading his book "Medium Raw" right now. It lacks whatever made me remember Kitchen Confidential so fondly. More like his television show in print, I suppose. Which isn't a bad thing, because I enjoy his show.

my better half read K.C. - we both used to work in dining once upon a time - she loved the book.

a while back i caught one Bourdain's TV shows - the one where he's in hawaii. it starts out stupid in some tourist trap, he buys a like $4000 dollar hawaiian shirt............and then tony hooks up with some local food guy and the show gets better and better. eventuallythey end up in some late-night place that chefs like to go after work and the food is asia/pacific hawaii heaven. i wanna go there next time i'm in da islands.

last night i made ahi poke and ate kim chee with rice and tofu. MMMMMMMMMMMM.

that is why it's very important to go to a fish market and get SUSHI GRADE fresh tuna.

P.S. it's pronounced POH-KEH.

Side Street Inn. It's decent. The pork chops and the fried rice is the way to go.
But if you're in Town you need to go to Ono Hawaiian Food for lunch. Their Laulau is fucking amazing, and their 1-day poi is the bomb. Also gotta hit Gomaichi Ramen. Hell yeah.
