Elblat, is that the w90? I've been thinking about picking one of those up as a camera to put in my pack and not have to worry about. Lugging around an SLR is foolish most of the time. Let me know what you think after you have a chance to abuse it some.

Yea, astrophotography. Although I have a really shitty telescope. Good for a noob.

And I think I'm the only one downtown having sex with the lights on and shades up. Never seen any naked people but a fat chick on a treadmill. In her underwear. That was weird.

So this is the result of attaching my camera to a shit telescope, 700mm.

Also with the telescope. It's a GAZING BALL. One gazes at it.

A little washed out. Focusing is somewhat of a bitch with this thing.

I ended up getting the Samsung HZ30W. It's decent, takes photos in an acceptable amount of time. HD video is okay, but honestly doesn't seem much better than my FlipHD. Although the IS and 15x zoom is obviously a plus. Negative, the sound cuts out when zooming while on video. Wide angle lens is good. But it can't focus for shit at full zoom.

that camera sounds pretty great.

especially for how inexpensive it is.

have you tried bracing the camera against a stable object when shooting fully zoomed?

it does sound as though you might be expecting too much as far as performance is concerned........

after all - the device is both a 12MP still and video camera that fits in your pocket and costs just over $200 dollars.

some of your problems might be solved with one of those mini tripod deals.

as far as zooming with sound?

what are you trying to shoot, fellini - a feature film?

Criz and Ivan hired me to shoot their pornographic debut.

But yea, it's a decent camera for $200. I know this and had to make sure I didn't expect too much from it. However, shutting off the sound while zooming seems like a cheap hack for what was obviously a problem with the audio picking up the sound of the lens moving. So instead of whrrrrrrrrr it's total silence. I'd rather hear the whrrrrrr plus ambient sounds than nothing at all. It's really screws up the feel of a video.

That's really my only major beef at this point.
