Follow up (in the extremely remote chance that someone might care and/or be interested)...

Finger is still fucked. Haven't climbed. Tried medical doctors, doctors of TCM, physio, ART, heat, ice, rectal insertion, et al. Finger has a permanent bow to it and is still very sore and still swells.

Injury occurred mid January. Off to see an orthopedic surgeon on May 4th. Looks like I'll be going under the knife again (had a previous finger repaired).

Climbing season is getting nicely underway and I'm not a part of it. Going to take up drinking and eating nothing but deep fried food.

Geez that sucks. Sorry to hear that.

Word on the drinking. I suggest single malt scotch.
Yuck on the fried foods. I suggest taking up bread baking. Automatic bread machine until you can knead the dough. But it's highly rewarding, and it goes well with the scotch.

Kneading is for tards.

How long until someone cuts at you in the name of medical science, SQ? How long to heal? Do you have a netflix subscription and some valium?

My preliminary appointment with the ortho surgeon is May 4th...I guess I will find out the rest of the details then. Last time I had finger surgery (emergency surgery - done the very same day that I saw the surgeon), it took months and months to heal...sucked but at least it works properly now, so I guess it was worth it. Right now the ortho surgeon had an Occupational Therapist make a splint for my finger while he does some research. I've been splinted for 2 weeks now and am going back to see the doc tomorrow morning...will find out his plan of attack then.

Pop goes the SI (sacroiliac) joint. Intermittent pain and numbness down the right leg, loss of strength. Walking, sleeping, and otherwise functioning depends on NSAID ingestion. Xrays showed nothing; MRI results pending.

At least it's summer.

good luck with that seasonal schedule working out. my SI is permanently fuxxored. or, at least it feels that way.

if you're a youngster (under 40), you'll probably be alright.

gotta stretch it out before and after doing anything strenuous.

sounds like i gotta cop a supply of NUTRIEX......

Heh. It's part of the reason for the abandonment. Are you on fire yet?

MRI results tomorrow.

2 herniated disks. PT and rest. If that doesn't work, cortisone; if that's ineffective, surgery.

I'm going with number one.

that'll hurt.

and that accounts for the numbness in the leg.

i put off neck surgery for four years.

after i had it - i thought to myself:

"wtf? why'd i wait so long?"
