The Cure:

Pricey Though

APS-C SLR sized sensor
fast f2 35mm lens
full manual controls (mimicking rangefinder)
small solid metal body
very pretty 3 inch screen

The work shots above are shot with it at ISO1600... Low light performance like whoa.

S95:
- better screen
- shoots RAW
- faster lens
- much larger sensor
- full manual exposure controls
- SLIGHTLY MORE EXPENSIVE BUT WORTH IT.

You dabbed. Return that shit and correct your mistake.

The S95 is almost twice the price here. $150 more if I bought it from Hong Kong. I basically wanted a point and shoot that was small (tick), reasonable in low light (tick), took HD video (tick) and was cheap (tick). So yeah, I'm happy with it. I have a dslr with a quiver of reasonably good lenses for getting my serious photo on.

$220 Aussie monays vs $359 Aussie monays. $140 seems worth it for all that... But whatever floats your boat.

Sensor size is pretty much everything I wouldn't even touch a micro 4:3 at this point, ALA Olympus PEN. I like available light shooting (Ironic, given the fact that I am in lighting). I highly doubt that the HX will be "reasonable" in low light given that the micro 4:3 are barely "reasonable" in low light.

THe next couple of years will bring full frame sensors in compact point and shoots and rangefinders... Pretty cool.

Yeah, is that a dab? I have had good luck buying stuff from HK. After all they made it with their little asian fingers...

For some things Canon won't honour the warranty if you get grey import. I don't know if that includes PnS though. I get all my lenses from HK. The IXUS does what I want it to and I picked it up for $240 delivered the next day. You're right that the S95 is better, but I'm happy with the IXUS.

Taking photos of cats is the proper and correct use of a camera. Now post it on flickr and you're done.
