Yup. Lots of 20ft eggs with death landings over pits of snakes with rabies.

Well, I acquired my 50mm first like slim did since its the "cheap" 1.4. Its nice having both, especially in a dense and restricting forest, so I've never bothered getting rid of it.

True... But it's a 75mm on my small sensor camera. It's a pretty useful focal length I feel. I love it so far. No more zooms for me. Shot this with it today:

Nice capture. I forgot about the whole cropped sensor world. I never felt the need for the 85mm until I got a FF camera, and that was mostly because of how much wider my 50mm felt the first time I slapped it on the camera.

Thanks! Yeah I'm loving the conversion... The 85mm 1.4f costs $1700. So basically I'm getting a similar focal length at the same speed for $1300 less. And not only that, but you are only utilizing the inner 2/3 of the image, so you never run into problems of falloff or loss of sharpness in the corners. Win win. Sheen style.

Photog question:

Would the old Nikon F100 film SLR work with the newer "G" (gelded) lenses that have no aperture ring?

Yup, it works perfectly. Are you shopping for an F100 or a G lens? You can get amazing deals on the F100 off eBay. I got mine for $175 and its pretty much in mint condition. Even has the little plastic covers for the 10-pin remote.
