Step 1: STFU
Step 2: Post more photos
Step 3: Continue to STFU

I took this photo by pointing my camera at the sickness.

Thanks. 300mm 2.8 And its a black tail, which is good thing since a moose might have tried to ram our canoe if we came that close to it.

Nice DOF on the thorns, btw.

Photoshop isn't necessarily cheating. There's plenty of stuff you can do to pictures during the development process to adjust stuff. I guess it just depends on what you're trying to achieve. Me, I don't own photoshop, but I do use the gimp on occasion to fix stuff up a bit.

oh I'll agree it's not cheating. However I don't like a lot of the influences that PS has on the photographic arts.

HDR is a good example. The internet is rife with photographers that do this exclusively. Let me tell you HDR is NOT the shit. It sucks. I kinda liken it to autotune in the hip hop world. Skillfully employed and tastefully done, it can go undetected and contribute to making a song better. Rarely though. HDR is the same way. Some HDR shots I have seen have been subtle and very cool, tastefully bringing out rich color much the way landscape photogs traditionally have done with colored filters. But most of the time it's just over used and extremely gaudy.

I'll probably never use PS because if I do decide to start shooting RAW and mucking around with my shots, many lesser programs will have the exposure and color controls that I would mostly use.

One of the best reasons to run either CS5 or the newly released Lightroom 3 is for the noise reduction. It can be a life saver if you have push the ISO to get the desired exposure.

i've definitely gone through stages of overdoing things in photoshop

and, since i'm bashing myself and my photos right now,

i still pretty much suck at photoshop!

colors drive me crazy!

however, sometimes a guys gotta try and save his ass by doing what he can in PS.

fuck weddings - how many times can a guy go back to a boulder problem and try to shoot it again?

especially hard highballs and problems that i already drove three hours and

almost killed myself trying to hike my 70# pack up a steep hill at altitude just to get to?

or, how about that almost perfect frame where the spotter decided

he couldn't wait till the climber finished the problem

to pull on his hoodie?

fucking Rocco!

and yeah, i need to get that noise reduction program because i got that stupid ps4 two weeks before PS5 came out.

Lightroom 3's noise reduction is awesome but it still seems super buggy whereas the 1st two never had any problems. They need to fix what ever they did with the new engine.
