Good questions! First, before you climb at the Mushroom Boulder, I'd recommend warming up first. Maybe at the 45 Degree Wall or Bucket Roof, both excellent choices. Next, make sure you are properly equipped for safety and fun. Crash pad? Cooler full of beer? Illicit substances? Dogs? Boom box? All are vital for sending at Mushroom. Time of day is important to. It is best to go at night. Locate Mushroom Boulder from the road, park, and hop the fence to get to the boulder. Added bonus: you can run an extension cord from your car to power your boombox. You are now ready to send! Except the problems at Mushroom Boulder are probably too hard for you. No worries, make sure you have your chisel packed for making the holds on Texas Flakes big enough for you to hang on them.

But please remember that Hueco is a special and sacred place to many diverse user groups. Some people in the past have not recognized this in the past, and have left a devastating impact on the rock and the natural environment. For example, some climbers (or possibly birders) have taken colored chalk into the park and made shoddily drawn masks on some walls. Take a few minutes to scrub these clean with your toothbrush, or better yet, a pressure washer. Future climbers - and more importantly, the rangers - will thank you.
