Yo. I never tried stuffing a beer into a chicken rectum. I've heard about it, but always thought of it as a waste of beer. Now how does the beer improve the chicken?

One, you're not placing a $10 brew in there (does anyone sell such quality beer in a can). Two, it reportedly keeps it quite moist. Every experience I've had says this to be truth. As for added flavor, I dunno. If it's cooked in a lump charcoal apparatus, any beer flavor is overwhelmed by awesome smokiness.

I think it's just the best way to grill a whole chicken without having to chop it into pieces so you can flip it yourself. You can buy roasters that hold a chicken upright to roast in your oven, and even if you're just using a traditional roasting pan, you get the same situation with the uprightness of the beer can (air circulation, etc). If nothing else, it's just easy, really.

not for the grill. butterflied, between two hot cast iron pans is the only way I oven roast chicken though.

You should do it on the grill. Baking is for Betty Crocker.

grilling is partially about cutting down the effort needed in the kitchen. granted, it only takes a few minutes to pull out a backbone, but beercan is SO simple that there's not much reason to branch out at this point.

I like the idea but it's not that great. Had an IPA in a can recently that kicked ass though. Wish I could a) remember what it was and b) find and purchase it

I don't like it much either. Flag Mart has a 1337 canned "good beer" selection, but I'm not into the price tag because the brews tend to be hit or miss.

I like beer can method... Very simple. I usually use the indirect method on the grill with a drip pan under the bird. You really only use half a can anyways... because you drink half and then put some spice rub in the can. Hell... I don't even think beer has to be used. It just needs to create moisture (baste the bird from the inside out). I bet you could use some orange juice or something and that would be good. I've done ducks and turkeys this way too.

Anyone know how to harvest walnuts? I have a walnut tree, but all the nutz fall to the ground and rot or the squirrels get them.
P.S. Anyone know how to gut squirrels and have a good recipe for Brunswick Stew?
