as far as the video goes, i never thought revolutionaries would dress in period clothing, but then i remembered a good friend and anarchist (responsible in the truest sense of the word for liberating the technical manuals for machinery in reclaimed factories in argentina, after the capital flight when the soccer moms started going at bank machines with hammers) the first time i met him at a party, naked except for a sword and a british red coat, holding court in bed with some other fine, though much lovelier, people. i spent that party somewhat unsure of my surroundings, but in a pleasant place otherwise (thanks blue curacao!).

the beauty of capitalism is that it can inspire someone to create a vision of how to better themself. education, hard work, saving, not going into debt, not being a shitbag.

Uhhh... we already exported our industry and invented the internet, opening the door for the globalization of capitalism. And now, we are going to let the Chinese take all the profits. Is it OK to be pissed off if you were pissed off @ the former regime too? No doubt BushCo fucked this country hard for 8 active years plus probably the next 20, if we want to be honest about it. Personally, I feel the current decisions being made ("Expect trillion dollar budget deficits yearly from here on out" WTF? When there's never been one in the history of this country?) are mortgaging the longterm future of this country, as there's not enough American money left to buy that debt, it's getting bought by overseas investors (Chinese, Saudi, etc) at an ever increasing rate (just went over 50% for the first time in history back in February). And when all of our debt is owned by foreign interests, are we still a sovereign nation? Or are we going to be China's Puerto Rico?

Well... as I understood the stimulus and bank bailout that occurred under Bush, the theory is that massive injection of cash into the system by the gov (and yes, wb, some goes to shiteaters on unemployment) is supposed to sustain our economy until it comes back in a sustainable manner. The massive debt this year should be followed by less spending and cuts that eventually result in less debt and a balanced budget. I think the goal is to run shit like more like Clinton (8 year plan that moves toward fiscal responsibility and creates jobs) than Bush (write checks your ass can't cash).

At this point though, it seems like the Democrat congress is trying to bully through a bunch of new tax bills to fund "permanent programs". This is part of the problem we face - permanent government programs put in place when property tax and sales tax revenue was rising 10% per annum have zero budget now that people find out their house doesn't appreciate exponentially forever. So instead of less tax and less programs, stupid congress wants to push huge dollars through into HMOs pockets. Cap and trade will not alleviate global warming and will make energy damn expenisve for the average American. Tax the wealthy! is not a viable or sustainable tax policy and hurts job creation. This I do not support, but I'm not going to run around demanding revolution or freaking the fuck out about how we are all now marxist communists goosestepping down the road to a welfare nanny state (neomccarthism ftw!).

And yes, I personally feel that if you were pissed off at the BushCo regime, you really need to be paying more attention rather than just hoping Obama is going to work in your best interest. Or conversely, if you're just now pissed about inappropriate use of your tax dollars on a massive scale and supported the Bush regime, you are a damn hypocrit.

It's true that the government seldom works in your best interest. Obama won't even address the #1 issue on the internet and single biggest thing you could do to boost the economy - legalize the cannabis. He just laughs and formulates a plan to cram some bullshit nationalized health care and a bazillion percent cigarette tax down your throat because the government knows whats best for you and the dollars you earn.

Domestic wiretapping does NOT pay for itself. Walls between us and Mexico do not promote trade or strengthen an economy. War in Iraq is a massive expenditure which will probably keep gas prices down (relatively) over the next decade, but the benefit will never approach the cost. Bailing out the banks is not conservative fiscal policy. The war on drugs is a huge and failed experiment at social control and hemispheric hegemony that costs us tax money to fight the largest cash crop in the U.S. and unduly empowers criminal drug cartels.

It would be a lot easier for me to stomach the Republican base running off at the mouth about liberal shiteaters, unnecessary spending, and how MY America is being RUINED by SOCIALISTS... if they were actual fiscal conservatives. Instead, they are a bunch of whining liberal douchebags that are simply upset that their precious government spending initiatives have been reprioritized. Oh noes!

Fixing the healthcare system and blinding funding "nationalized" health care through a broken system are two different things. The former is something I support. The latter seems to be what is happening. I work hard, 50 plus hours a week if I can bill it. I also pay the system and my OWN health care contribution.
