How to win friends and influence people

How to win friends and influence people

Postby elblat » Wed Mar 23, 2011 1:10 pm

I had a incident recently and thought of all of you.

My note, left on a pretty nice BMW:

Please don't block my truck, thanks, Bob.

The reply, left in my mailbox when he was sure we had left (and of course, my wife found it while I was bouldering):

That looks like a note from a man who is confident his motorcycle won't be pushed over late at night by "strong winds." Brave...

P.s. do you pay attention to your MTB tires or just run whatever came on the bike?

I do, but usually run what comes on the bike until they are shot. That strategy payed off nicely this time. The new stumpy came with a Captain 2.0 in the rear and Purgatory 2.2 in the front. The combination works fantastic, efficient fast and grippy in dry and wet, loose and hardpack so far. I liked 'em so much that I bought a new set, run them tubeless, and moved the originals to the wife's stumpy. Just new to Spesh tires and not sure how long they will hold up.

Brave, or just confident that he won't be back in this little town for a while.

Word... I'm thinking I'm going to stay with Kendas, but I may end up with a Specialized renegade on the front...

Nevegal? Hard to beat for all around good, tough tire. Rumor has it that Kenda makes Spesh tires. You running tubeless? If so maybe consider even a larger front like the purgatory or some other 2.2". The cornering and steep downhill control is nice with a fat, soft front.

I think I would like a Nevegal up front with a Blue Groove or a Dred Tread in the back, slightly smaller. I probably should just go see what my homie has in the shop... I'm not running tubeless.

Sounds solid to me. Worrying too much about tires is about as productive as agonizing over climbing shoes.

Whatevs... I gotta worry about everything I spend money on, because it's a rarity nowadays!

Also agonizing over pressure suits with or without shoulder protection (for dirtbiking)....

You're a bit of a bitch for not handling this situation appropriately, elblat. Not that I'm judging you, but I'd like to make it known that for a very reasonable service charge I'm willing to drive out and handle these sorts of "issues" as they arise. Not that anything bad would happen to this particular individual, just that I would successfully convince him that parking his motorcycle in such a way that inconveniences you, my friend, is very bad for his general health. Everyone wants to be healthy.
