DOG - I am likely headed down this weeked too. FYI - it is bridgeday weekend so best try to get a reservation soon. I think at least one person in my group is staying in a hotel - I prefer to camp.
Rodgers is the "climbers'" campground, but as far as I am concerned it sucks. It used to be the cheapest option, but if you plan on showering (which you have to pay for) you might as well stay at one of the other campgrounds. If you want to hang with other dirtbag climbers, sleep on sloping ground and spray about your sends, then definitely stay at Rodgers. Take Route 19 until the ligth at Fayetteville. Follow main road past the gear shop, past Cathedral Cafe and eventually you will see a sign for Kaymoor and tyhe road splits. Floow the left side towards kaymoor. Stay on this road for a couple of miles and follow the signs for kaymoor rd. you will take on more left and then this 1 lane road winds it way back to Rodgers and the trail fro Kaymoor/Butcher's Branch.
I think the best campground is Chestnut Creek - heading south on Route 19 about 4 miles after you pass the exit for Midland Trail and about 2 miles before the NRG Bridge, youw ill come to an intersection with Lansing/Ames Heights Road - turn left. Head up the hill about 1/4 mile and you will see the entrance to Chestnut creek on your left. Call ahead (304) 574-3136.
I may head down Thursday night. I'll let you know as plans finalize and let you know where I'm climbing so we can make sure to avoid each other - that much power in one place could e devastaing to the balance of the universe.

For the record, the best reason to stay at Roger's will always be Roger--and the coffee. I've never taken better, more regular shits than when I lived there.

When I went we camped on the grounds of one of the rafting operations. It was cheap and decent. Maybe not the closest to the NRG, but I was there for the DWS and Hawks Nest, so it worked out pretty well.

if you pass the Hawks Nest parking lot there are also some decent boulders strewn throughout the woods on the river side. practically road side.

if you are on FB, find Waterstone on there or friend dbrayack you should be able to get somethign and a lot of good reccomendations from them . .. as a last resort you could try to connect with Matt Stark . . but he may require sexual favors as payment.

Hahaaa, man I shouldve checked this thread before I left...went down assuming id grab a guide from, the local shop..hit town friday night, stroll in with my apparently thick NY accent and ask about local bouldering. 1 really cool MF at the shop got me to hawks nest and cotton hill, which is where I sessioned all weekend. More than enough to keep me fully stoked out..just wish ihad a better idea of specifics..not,that it matters. Had most fun I think ive ever had..monday morning rain session on that giant overhung face with the big plate pinches, that first giant boulder on the right at cotton bottom. Soaked my pad. Saturday saw two locals working pocketface, which I flashed, then asked them if they knew where white eyebrow was. They showed me. Jeez. Almost ended my trip early just tryin to get on it. fell from last move on leaving las fayetteville, I fuckin spazzed out bruised my heel badly enough I couldnt heelhook with it anymore. Oh well. those were the only guys I saw climbing though, so I only know the names of three problems. Had the best brisket sandwich of my life at a place called chettys, followed the next night by the best burger ive ever had, same place. Think it was the slaw topping on both. Amazing, I just hope they dont slack off as it was the grand re-opening this weekend...
Back to bouldering, ill fuckin paypal one of u guys $20 for a pdf of an old guide. I wont show anyone, I dont even have anyone to show. I climb with my girl usually, thats it. Im not some hipster with a 10 man crew in skinny jeans. I keep a low pro.
