It was pretty easy, once rooted. I can give you a good walk through on how to get it rooted. Im running bugless beast now which is Android 2.2 FRF84B.
My battery last about 2 days which is considerable better than stock. I have the phone at 1.2 Ghz while the screen is on. When the screen turns off it steps down to 125Mhz. The cpu is undervolted quite a bit too which helps.
