Unfortunately, where the used bookshops are the best (big university towns..ie: Berkley, Ann Arbor, Portland, Austin, Madison..etal) the pretentious employee effect is greatest (but not always..)
I don't think the model is dead yet, but the business is so loaded with pitfalls and pratfalls that it might as well be..
Damn...I miss that life.

That's because they're closeted hipsters..
But the concept of the "half price" book shop is the best..no pretense, no "collectibles" just cheap books..Good general selection book shops have the longest life.
