Rock Creek is good. Not a huge area, but quality. I was there last August and temps were great in the morning and afternoon.

Whitney Portal also has a bunch of great boulders, but you have to deal with hordes of tourists. But you can also feed the bears.

yo. rock creek has some good warmups.. it's just long moves between crimps with bad feet. make sure your feet don't slip and you hold on with some skin.

1 - Rock Creek is almost entirely warm-ups when it comes down to it.

2 - Way Lake has a ton of good shit - just requires cojones and/or very good spotters.

There's some hard stuff at rock creek. It's just either midrange eazy, v3-7.. or hard as shit (imo) skin abuse.. but high quality in a nice setting. If you get bored, you can chase bears with a rock in your hand yelling "I'M RICK JAMES BITCH!!"

I'm sure if you live in the area you consider yourself lucky to have a rock creek and a way lake, but when travelling alone, rock creek is maybe 5 half decent boulders with difficult problems and scary downclimbs.

Even if with the pads I found stashed at way lake, I only saw 5 problems with chalk. I'm guessing a lot of it was still under snow, cus there were huge snow banks under every big boulder. Had to posthole just to get up there..

Other than soaking in hot springs, Mammoth was a waste of time.

Tahoe has been rad tho. Got a killer cirque at the saddle. Gonna go check out bliss today.

I spent a nice afternoon at Bliss; nothing spectacular, but at that point, I didn't really know spectacular when I saw it, so . . .

Warm-up

Note the near walk-off downclimb to the left (down the ramp)

Including up in the Talus, there are probably less than 10 good boulders. Def not a destination. But good stone and a good mix of problems.

Prob my GF's favorite area on the eastside.
