Other sports

Postby malachi » Sun Nov 01, 2009 5:01 pm

So... someone commented that it seems like boulderers are kind of inbred and boring - that all they do is boulder and all they talk about is bouldering. I corrected this person - pointing out that boulders also talk about drinking, smoking and people they hate. The response, "so you all talk shit - but really don't DO anything but boulder."

Are there other sports you pursue with ANY degree of passion and commitment (I'm not talking about fucking Thanksgiving football games, subscribing to ESPN the magazine, etc). And no... neither poker nor golf are sports.

Clearly nothing that a fucking card carrying Mensa member would be proud of is "sport"
So no - chess doesn't count. And neither does Magic the freaking Gathering, OK?

You don't need to be a member of Mensa to play chess..

I once knew a mentally retarded man who could play it very well..

In the last few years I've played competitive indoor cricket, indoor hockey, futsal, touch football and I'm playing my first game of ultimate frisbee tonight. I also run about 20km a week. I'm only really climbing once or twice a week at the moment though.

if by "race car" you mean "rally" then I'd put it on the list. If you mean NASCAR or autocross, then I call bullshit.

and i would add hockey.

oh... and outrigger canoe racing (of course). See below:

Looking like that's gonna be unlikely.
I fear the "inbred and boring" comment may prove to be more accurate than I thought.
