north of the great lakes. about 14degree average, celsius temperatures for this week. turn left. ignace, ontario will be the place to be next week- guided tour options with the forest rangers- these are the 17-18yearold young women who have most graciously groomed the trails in the boulder field. plus, the blueberries are out. topo forthcoming. let me know if you want a tour. local funding available (sell berries out of your vehicle, gyspy stylee. it's like living).

yo stone. is saddlebag a city inside the park? i'm gonna try to hit up tuolumne on my way back, but i got the dog and the trailer in tow, so it's gonna be a bit sketchy. you think i can sneak bolder in? hook me up with beta foo!

she survived the dog snatching cougars in squamish..

no shit, this cougar snatched a lady's chihuahua while she was walking it on a leash (on a pretty popular trail) and then climbed a tree and proceeded to eat it in front of the lady. brutal.

while it would be funny to sandbag you - it wouldn't be cool.

you don't want to try and scam the police in yosemite. they are full-on nazi fucks and they live to screw with climbers. they got nothing else to do but look for pizza left in locked cars, dogs off leash and illegal bivis.

Lotsa folks bring their dogs into the park. You just have to stay on concrete or not in the bush or something. I've seen people let their dogs roam around (big dogs) at camp 4.

Saddlebag lake is a zone near mt. conness. It's not in the park, so dogs are cool (I think). it's past the east entrance to the park (leaving tuolumne).. where you'll see a store on your left. There's a campground on the left as you drive about a 1/4 mile past the store and a narroww road that splits off to the right and up a good 1000 vertical feet to an awesome zone. You can take a boat shuttle across the lake to the 20 lakes region, or just walk the trail on either side of the lake to more lakes that are amazing aqua blue in an alpine setting. Don't forget your fishing gear. Saddlebag and and the 20 lakes zone has rainbows, brook, and golden trout. Alpine climbing, but haven't really found any boulders. it's just an amazing place that you'll never forget. It does get cold at night.

i could not recommend Mammoth any higher (does that make sense)? the weather there in the summer is thee BEST in California during the summer.

as for camping, i know some great places. NO bears, NO paying, lots of wood, clear cool running creek you can drink straight out of. super easy to find, right off 395. it's 'bout 20 minutes north of mammoth.

here's a semi-high meadow above the area you camp.
