Beyond any of how it looks and even the potential usefulness of it and all, bottle racks don'tbelong on cyclocross bikes. Unless they are fsatened to bar ends; that could be awesome.

Yea, you can take off the bosses for racing if that's your thing. That frame has some slick fender mounts too. If you're only racing for an hour and handups are an option there's really no need.

Got hi-balled on the cross check. I've been borrowing a Giant TCX, which has been rad for the packed snow and ice here with studded tires.

With road tires, I dig the off-line punch and uphill performance I get that steel doesn't allow. If I want a softer ride... I'll go fatter rubber. This has me thinking Fuji Cross Pro, as I plan on group road rides come summer (granted, mainly a commuter).

Steel is good and all, but there's a reason quality alu/carbon makes sense. It's like a car-phone vs. a smart-phone.

Probably will sell the Jamis, as much as I enjoy it...

my dream rig finally built up:




its a trials frame by the legendary Frank The Welder of yeti/ibis/spooky fame. wanted 1 more than anything ever since i first started riding a few years ago. finally procured one about a year ago and slowly built it up. blue king in the back, and 1 of probably 5 people in the US with TNN forks. tires are flat cause i had just thrown a fresh grind on the rims.

most trials frames nowadays are built like disposable pogo sticks...17 + 18lb bikes with crazy bb heights, like +65 and up. theyre meant for comps and people that ride pallets...you miss a few gaps on rock with them and they snap. and the bb height makes them completely unrideable on 2 wheels, theyre meant to be backhopped and thats it.

my shit is stupid stiff, heavy as fuck, with an old school geo, +20 bb. it gaps and sidehops like a beast, but handles like a DH bike on the trail. gearings 18-15 though, im only riding from spot to spot with it, never more than a couple miles. and i run a psi level in the teens (everyone does) so its actually pretty decent in the snow.

im fucking terrible ever since i started climbing though. i neglect riding too much now.

Sako is a nice rifle. Laminated stocks are suitable for throwing in your snow toboggan.

A bike without a seat should not raise expectations of practicality.

My fixed, front rack rig still rules. Threw a fat 650b wheel in the front and improved comfort and handling.

Nice Blimp. I've owned 2 folding bikes. A Bike Friday and a Dahon. Both very nice for urban commuting; esp. for the subway during rush.
