it opens up with a very ester rich flavor (kinda like how mint makes your mouth feel "cool" but with out the mint taste)....
then it rounds and fades..

as you re-breathe it through your nose, you feel as you just crunched though some piney glades.... like you just hauled a xmass tree.... the aftertaste is piney and deep, but not at all astringent or offensive... I really am in love with this distilleries ability to reduce the flavors of their eau de vies to taste less alcoholic and more flavorful with out offensiveness.... they are my new go to for such liquor.... their pear eau di vie makes poire williams taste like ass....

4 min after a small sip... my mouth is still lovely and fresh.... brilliant!

Yeah - you def need to get out west. So many good choices. And no need to fuck yourself up. For every Moab death ride or North Shore stunt ride or Lower Rock Creek babies head masher there are a dozen really fun trails.

I grew up riding back east and will never forget the first time out here.
My only advice would be to make your first couple trips somewhere at lower elevation. My second trip was to the Mammoth area and even short climbs practically killed me coming from sea level.

If you like east coast style technical single track there are a ton of good lower elevation options around Seattle and around San Francisco. If you want to combine it with a climbing trip - there are world class trails near Squamish of course - but also in the Tahoe area and north of Bishop as well as around Salt Lake and (of course) Moab. Even Flag as much as I hate to admit it has some incredible stuff to ride.
